How to dress for your body shape: Series

Something that i think is important for all women to know is how to dress yourself in a way that accents your strengths and downplays your weaknesses. It is important to remember style is not what is in fashion at the moment but how to choose clothing to fit your body type! Over the next few weeks i will be doing individual posts and videos on each of the body shapes explaining what to do and what not to do.

There are five main body types

The 5 types are pear, apple, rectangle, hourglass and inverted triangle. But remember putting yourself into a body type category is just a starting point. Once you know your body type, you need to do the next layer of analysis.

Body type modifiers add more detail

Important to remember, People with the same body type will still have different bodies. There are many other areas that we need to consider when thinking about how to dress our bodies. Examples of these are bust size, height, shoulder width, neck length, leg length, ankle shape, short waist, long waist, calf circumference, rise size and being extra curvy.

Body Shapes Change Over Time

The best way to identify your body type is to stand in front of a mirror in jeans or leggings and a form fitting top and analyze your silhouette from the front.

Identify your body type

Get a tape measure around your:

Bust

wear your most common bra and start at the nipple height. Pull it around you body and write down the number, it can be in cm/inchs etc its not important.

Hips

Start around the hip bone and do the same as bust. Don't forget to record your numbers!

Waist

Start at the smallest point in the abdomen and measure around the body and record the numbers

Interpreting the numbers!

Now that you have all your numbers, you can see a ratio. looking at your numbers you will be able to see if you bust and hips equal the same means you will be hourglass or rectangle depending on your waist measurement. If you hip ratio is significantly larger then the others, you are a pear shape. etc

If your still struggling to figure out your shape, here is a calculator which tells you!

Stay tuned as i will be going over each shape in detail in the near future.

Hair dye review: Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Colour

So over the past few weeks I have noticed I have a two tone thing going on in my hair! It looks like regrowth, not cute! So I am testing out a new hair dye.

I picked Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Colour, it a middle to high quality brand. The colour i got was Frosted Chestnut 5.25. It is enriched with fruit oils and extracts.

The product claims to
  • Make you hair Shimmering Shiny chestnut
  • Have anUltra visible results
  • Intense nourishment, healthy feeling hair

This is my before picture

My hair is natural as can be here, unwashed, unstraightened, it was just taken out of a pony tail which explains the kink. As you can see my hair is lifeless and is darker on the top compared to the bottom and overall BLEH

 This is the after

Washed, unstraightened just air dried. My hair is still a bit wet in this photo but i wanted to get a photo in the sunlight and it was getting late. I am very happy with the result. I think it has evened out the colour amazingly, i think the result are obvious so it is ultra visible and finally my hair has a tone more shape and life. It has been nourished and found its waves again!

Overall i think the product delivered on all the promises it makes on the box and i would definitely be a repurchaser. Let me know what you think of the colour!

Skin Care Review: Kora Organics By Miranda Kerr

As an Australian women in the beauty business, i adore Miranda Kerr. I have followed her work since she was first signed with Victorias Secret in 2007. She bought out her own range of Skin Care products called Kora Organics a three years ago. I have been wanting to try it for a while but it is quite expensive, however I have mustered up the courage and opened my wallet and this is what i found!

Kora is fully produced though Miranda, it is not one of those celebrity endorsements when they only put their name on it. Miranda says the range is the ingredients that she personally used and knew would deliver results. Due to loving and appreciating all things natural and organic, she was very selective.

The KORA Organics Skincare products are infused with antioxidant rich Noni, Essential Fatty Acids, Herbal Extracts, Essential Oils and Vitamin A, C and E and many other highly rejuvenating and replenishing ingredients. Designed to nourish, replenish and re-hydrate the skin, the range is exactly what she wanted but was unable to find anywhere in the world.

Now i have been testing out these products for a few months now, i purchased 'Essential Products for Normal to dry skin' I emailed Theresa Kerr, Miranda's mother and co founder of the business, to help me pick the right products. However, in hindsight i feel i should of bought the ' Essential Products for Oily to combination skin' as i have not been throughly impressed with the cleaners but i will get to that in a moment.

Cream Cleanser, 90ml 3.4fl.oz.

Enriched with powerful benefits of Noni Extract, Aloe and Sandalwood to gently clean away dirt and grime whilst helping to nourish and revitalise dry, dehydrated skin. KORA Organics Cream Cleanser is ideal for sensitive skin; containing Rosehip, Avocado and Macadamia nut oils to nourish and maintain skin balance. Your skin will feel clean, fresh and invigorated.

This was the product i found not very impressive. I got bumps and small blemishes on my skin during the time i used this. However, I think this is due to the fact that i should of bought the combination skin products. The imperfections were so bad that i had to stop using the product, which was disappointing.

Balancing Rose Mist, 65ml 2.19fl.oz.

A replenishing and nourishing facial mist with the added benefits of organically grown Rose, Noni, Aloe and Hibiscus. This unique combination provides the skin with antioxidant protection known widely to assist in supporting the skins own Collagen production.

Out of the three products I used in this set, this was the one i found most impressive. This is a toner and it completely cleared up all my scars left from past blemishes. It smells great and makes your skin feel smooth and supple!

Hydrating Day and Night Cream, 50ml 1.7fl.oz.

A hydrating daily moisturiser with Rose, Natural Omega 6 Fatty Acids, Lavender, Noni Extract and Rose Hip and Mandarin Oil delicately blended with Bergamot to help replenish, revitalize and invigorate a dull dry complexion. Specifically formulated to leave the skin hydrated, soft, smooth and supple.

This product is a great moisturiser, i use it all over my face and even around my eyes. It makes the skin soft and smooth. It also is absorbed relatively fast, which is a huge bonus for me because i have bangs that would get cream in them.

Overall i found these products to be ok, i feel they would of been fantastic had i had the correct cleanser. I would recommend them for anyone who really appreciates organic products and is willing to spend a fair bit on their skin.

You can order you products online here, They are roughly priced at around $149.95 for the three piece set, however you can buy them individually.
