Something that i think is important for all women to know is how to dress yourself in a way that accents your strengths and downplays your weaknesses. It is important to remember style is not what is in fashion at the moment but how to choose clothing to fit your body type! Over the next few weeks i will be doing individual posts and videos on each of the body shapes explaining what to do and what not to do.
There are five main body types
The 5 types are pear, apple, rectangle, hourglass and inverted triangle. But remember putting yourself into a body type category is just a starting point. Once you know your body type, you need to do the next layer of analysis.Body type modifiers add more detail
Important to remember, People with the same body type will still have different bodies. There are many other areas that we need to consider when thinking about how to dress our bodies. Examples of these are bust size, height, shoulder width, neck length, leg length, ankle shape, short waist, long waist, calf circumference, rise size and being extra curvy.
Body Shapes Change Over Time
The best way to identify your body type is to stand in front of a mirror in jeans or leggings and a form fitting top and analyze your silhouette from the front.
Identify your body type
Get a tape measure around your:
Bust
wear your most common bra and start at the nipple height. Pull it around you body and write down the number, it can be in cm/inchs etc its not important.Hips
Start around the hip bone and do the same as bust. Don't forget to record your numbers!
Waist
Start at the smallest point in the abdomen and measure around the body and record the numbersInterpreting the numbers!
Now that you have all your numbers, you can see a ratio. looking at your numbers you will be able to see if you bust and hips equal the same means you will be hourglass or rectangle depending on your waist measurement. If you hip ratio is significantly larger then the others, you are a pear shape. etcIf your still struggling to figure out your shape, here is a calculator which tells you!
Stay tuned as i will be going over each shape in detail in the near future.
