HOW TO: Get model hair like Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr is the face of the new Clear haircare range and here the Australian supermodel shares her four simple steps to luscious locks:

1. “Because of my job I can’t be 100 per cent organic, so my philosophy is to be 80 per cent organic,     20 per cent indulgent. I couldn’t find a certified organic haircare range that gave me the results wanted, so I tried Clear and loved what it did.”

2. “I have regular hair treatments and I love neck and scalp massages. They get the blood pumping and promote growth.”

3. “I also rinse my hair in cold water. It makes me feel invigorated and alive, like a dive into the ocean."

4. “I cook with coconut oil – it’s the best for cooking. Good oils and omegas in my diet help make my hair shiny. I love avocados and almonds and I put macadamia oil on my salads.”

So now how do I get my face to look like hers?!

Dove Colour Live (Nuffnang event)

Last week on Tuesday I was invited to attend a Nuffnang event called, 'Dove Colour Live'. A bunch of bloggers were invited by email to attend this lovely event hosted by Dove and their marketing team, to learn mostly about colour and which ones correspond to hues, and our personalities.

When I got there, i was greeted with some Champagnes, not a bad start, and we were directed to a dark room, with a flat screen TV at the front. Then the lights began to change colour, and a voiceover described what they represented. The lady on the screen then said that colour is a way to incorporate all the senses into life and enhance them, particularly focusing on how colours make her 'feel', at the end of the video it is revealed that she was blind, it made the message of the video a lot more impactful.

Then we went into this bright white room with a bright purple light, that looked a lot like a studio. We had some great speakers there who talked about colour and hair and little snacks and drinks were served around. They also served a Cucumber Vitality juice which was to promote healthy hair and if you like the nails on hand model, you can go see more fabulous designs on her blog here.

We then split off into little groups for mini consultations with a colour therapist. This was my favourite part of the night. She had us look in the mirror, then proceeded to identify our 'seasons' we corresponded with, and the colours that suit us to wear. According to her I was hard to identify, I'm a Cool Summer/Winter type, Summer are the quiet, highly organised and focused. Winter are the really outgoing types, Autumn people are passionate and Spring is light-hearted and just looking for a good time. Which one do you think you are?

She gave us a lot of information about colours we SHOULD and SHOULDN'T wear. For example, black clothes can be nice, but generally they close people off from you, so people are less likely to want to approach you. Whereas, red makes you more attractive to men and they are more likely to spend money on you. So if you are getting ready for a date and you can't choose between red and black, now you know which to choose!

Apparently I should wear bold bright colours and contrasts. Which is also true for the stunning model below who's blog you can find here.

Another plus is, when we left, we got given Goody Bags. It's a DOVE bag containing products to keep healthy and freshly-coloured hair.

I just want to thank Nuffnang for inviting me, and the Dove team for not only providing an amazing and informative night, but also a bunch of great products for me to protect my hair with. Also, thanks to the other girls there that made the night so fun, and I had a great time meeting everyone.

Review: YSL Glossy Stain Lipstick

A revolutionary lip product! Glossy Stain combines the texture and shine of a gloss with the long-wear of a stain for a truly innovative lip product. A lightweight texture that immediately melts onto lips. Glossy Stain delivers intense glossy colour for an extremely long lasting new kind of shine.

These are pretty big claims and I can honestly say i was very impressed by this lip product. I was fairly skeptical at first because most lip products that have the word 'Glossy' in the name, really means "Wears off before leaving the house" safe to say, "long lasting" is not a phrase I would associate.

The design of the product is very classic and lovely. I think the simplicity shows class and elegance, both of which fit within the brands image. I particularly liked the strip of colour on the front. The amount of times I search through all my lipsticks and grab aimlessly because I can't see or remember what colour they all are, the strip removes that struggle and makes it super easy. I also really like the applicator's unique slanted tip and short soft bristles because it allows for flawless application with perfect precision.

I was honestly so impressed by the durability of this product, it lasted almost 3+ hours without needing to retouch, not only is it durable. It is also fairly pigmented. However I did decide that if you want a natural shine, apply one coat on the center of the lips and brush towards the outer corners. For a stronger colour, perhaps for a nighttime look, apply two coats using the outer curved side of the applicator, then dab on the formula generously over lips.

I would definitely get your hands on this if you can. It is slightly more pricy but if you are in the market for a more high end lip product, you can rest assured that this one will not disappoint.

Day In The Life: Blue mountains getaway

So last weekend Daniel and went to the Blue Mountains for a weekend get away! It was very fun and relaxing and COLD. The top temperature was 12 degrees! But it gave me a chance to try out some great winter fashions, OOTD to follow.

Accommodation wise, we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast... without the breakfast. Daniel cousin had paid for a night at a guest house for our wedding present, which i thought was a very original and thoughtful idea. The guest house was something we would not have chosen but it was a good opportunity to try something that was a little out of our comfort zone. It was a very educational experience, we learnt we do not like guest houses. It was very uniquely decorated which allowed for many photo opportunities

As you can see, it is a hipsters dream.

While we were up there we went to Jenolan caves. Jenolan caves are regarded as Australia’s most outstanding cave system, with pure underground rivers and amazing limestone crystal formations, Jenolan Caves is among the finest and oldest cave systems in the world. We did a cave tour through the Temple of Baal and it was very enjoyable and educational. Although alot of the more scenticfic and technical terminology was, very much, in one ear and out the other. However Daniel really loved it and enjoyed being massive nerd by being able to answer all the questions, lucky he took that one Geology class at university!

As you trek through these caves you honestly feel as if you are in some fantasy movie. I swear i thought i saw a hobbit run past.

Outside the caves, the bushland is really stunning, lots of greenery. We would of definitely done a bush walk if we had more time.

Those were just some nice photos we were able to get while exploring the bushland!

After Jenolan we went to the Three Sisters, as seen at the top of the page.

The following day we visited the Everglads, I can share too many pictures from here because most of them are for an OOTD that will be coming soon! But i will leave you with this little sneak peak.  The camera was on timer and Daniel thought he would surprise me.

Review: The Lipstick Collection created by Kate By Rimmel

The 1st Lipstick collection created by Kate Moss High intensity colour for up to 8 hours. Formula infused with Black Diamonds, reflects light like never before. Captues all the flair, edge and timelessness of Kate’s unique look.

First off, the name is not catchy at all. I need to get that out of my system, its too long and I think the name is what really prevented this lipstick from taking off. A simple 'By Kate' would have been significantly better.

The packaging is cute and simple, I really like it. I think it reflects Kate Moss's style and I love that she put a simple signature on each one, I think it is a nice touch and very good branding for herself. There is only a simple embossed Rimmel logo on the top, not overbearing at all.

I bought the brightest red there was, because you can never have enough red lipstick. The below image is myself wearing the shade 10 with a red lip liner underneath the prevent it bleeding out. It goes on relatively smooth, it can be a bit fiddly to get right but with lipliner as your base, you can't really go wrong. I wore it for a full day and I was definitely impressed with the performance, it stayed on even after i ate. It is hard to tell if that is due to the lipliner or the lipstick its self.

Overall, i was very impressed by the product, not the name. It surpassed my expectations as I have not hard particularly high ones for Rimmel in the past. I would definitely purchase this again in the future and recommend it for someone who wants a good lasting red lipstick that does not have a ridiculous price tag.
