Review: Lush Face Mask

Relaxing and reviving, mineral-rich mask to cleanse, soften and beautify all skins. This blend, inspired by the sea, contains fresh and nutritious seaweed and seaweed absolute. Cleansing kaolin, antiseptic honey, calming aloe vera and rose absolute make this a great mask for everyone. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave for five to ten minutes, and then rinse with warm water. Keep chilled.

Overall, I was not impressed with it. I goes on very chunky and thick in parts which can flake off while it dries and create a bit of a mess. I bought this mask with the intention of minimising some redness from scarring on my face from bad skin. However, I do not think this was a miracle product at all, I saw no immediate results. The fact that it has to be refrigerated really doesn't work, it makes the mask super cold and uncomfortable to put on. It has a short dating so it doesn't last very long and considering the price, $16, I would of liked it to last a little longer. My skin did feel smooth but not cleansed like a mask usually does, I actually had to put a second one on after this to really make my skin feel clean. 

Overall, I would not recommend or repurchase. You tell me if you can see a difference.

The New Naked?

I'm totally in love with this new 'Fade In' palette from Smashbox's 'Fade to Black' collection. 

While I adore my Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 palettes, I have used them to death over the past year or so, so this makes a new but very welcome option in my neutral eye wardrobe...

It contains four mattes and three beautiful shimmers. As you'll notice in the pictures, the darker shades show up slightly darker than they appear in the pan, but are all beautiful. 

The formula and pigmentation of these are all really nice. I would note that the black with a tiny bit of shimmer in it is slightly less pigmented than the others, and took a little work to get the finish shown above. The addition of a gorgeous, shimmery olive green also makes this palette stand out from many others.

Apart from that, the formulas are lovely, they blend well and the staying power is really nice.

The packaging is stunning too and I think this is going to be my go-to-palette for the next few months. There is also another colour-way in this palette which contains more plummy, purple shades. They are already available in Sephora in the USA, priced at $42, but if you're UK/AU based they will be available online and on counters at the end of August, priced at £32. 

Value for money isn't quite on a par with the Urban Decay options (if you don't already own a Naked palette, I would definitely recommend getting one over this, but if you are stuck in a neutral-eye-rut with your Naked palettes and are looking for something new in a similar vein, this is my recommendation.

Review: The Lipstick Collection created by Kate By Rimmel

The 1st Lipstick collection created by Kate Moss High intensity colour for up to 8 hours. Formula infused with Black Diamonds, reflects light like never before. Captues all the flair, edge and timelessness of Kate’s unique look.

First off, the name is not catchy at all. I need to get that out of my system, its too long and I think the name is what really prevented this lipstick from taking off. A simple 'By Kate' would have been significantly better. 

The packaging is cute and simple, I really like it. I think it reflects Kate Moss's style and I love that she put a simple signature on each one, I think it is a nice touch and very good branding for herself. There is only a simple embossed Rimmel logo on the top, not overbearing at all. 

I bought the brightest red there was, because you can never have enough red lipstick. The below image is myself wearing the shade 10 with a red lip liner underneath the prevent it bleeding out. It goes on relatively smooth, it can be a bit fiddly to get right but with lipliner as your base, you can't really go wrong. I wore it for a full day and I was definitely impressed with the performance, it stayed on even after i ate. It is hard to tell if that is due to the lipliner or the lipstick its self.

Overall, i was very impressed by the product, not the name. It surpassed my expectations as I have not hard particularly high ones for Rimmel in the past. I would definitely purchase this again in the future and recommend it for someone who wants a good lasting red lipstick that does not have a ridiculous price tag. 

OOTD: Casual day by the seaside

Maybelline Fit Me Review

The Maybelline Fit ME range of foundations came out about 6 months to a year ago and claims to make your skin flawless and lets the real you come through by matching your natural skin tone with a fresh, breathable, natural make up foundation.

To achieve this, the range consists of a foundation liquid base, a concealer and a powder.

The claims:

·         It's makeup that fits you.

·         No oils, no waxes, no nonsense

·         Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be…fresh, breathing, natural  

·         Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin's natural highs and lows to show through

·         Non-comedogenic, dermatologist-tested

The packaging is ok. The concler package is what you would expect, however the label does rub off kind of easy. The liquid foundation packaging is good, it is glass, which is pretty good for the price and that is a drugstore brand. Finally. The powder, this was the packaging I was least impressed with. It is plastic and feels a little bit cheap, I do like that it has a hidden compartment for your sponge. However I HATE the sponge, I they are not very good quality and break after not much use.

I have been using this range for long time now. It is a little heavy because there are so much layers,  however it does give you quite good coverage when you use all three products together. The staying power is not great. I would recommend wearing a primer underneath your make up and taking the power pack when you go out, for touch ups.

As you can see, this week was an ideal time to test the coverage of this foundation. I have accumulated my fair share ( and more) of spots and scars that needed a good covering! In the after photo, I am only wearing the Fit me range. I think it turned out quite effective!

Overall I think this is a really good foundation considering that is a drugstore brand. When used correctly it can give you a high end coverage. I would definitely re-purchase this brand. However, for more formal occasions I would opt for a more high end product. 

Finding your face shape

1 Choose a bathroom with good lighting and make sure you can see your full face.Stand in front of the mirror. You’ll need a tape measure, a piece of paper and a pen to write down your measurements.


2 Start by measuring across the top of your cheekbones. Place the end of your tape measure just past the outer corner of your eye. This is your start point. Then, carefully lay the tape measure in a straight line across the bridge of your nose to just past the outer corner of your other eye. This is your end point of measurement. The tape measure should be resting on the top of the “apples” of your cheeks, or just on top of your cheekbones


3 Read the number at the end point and write down this measurement.


4 Measure your jaw line next. Measure across the widest part of your jaw.


5 Multiple the number at the end point by two and write down this measurement.


6 Measure your forehead now. Place the start point of the measuring tape on one side of your forehead at the widest point (usually halfway between your eyebrows and your hairline). Run the measuring tape along your forehead until you come to the same point on the opposite side of your head.


7 Read the number at the end point and write down this measurement.


8 Finally, measure the length of your face. Start at the middle of your hairline. Run the measuring tape down your face, over your nose, to the tip of your chin.


9 Read the number at the end point and write down this measurement.


10 Determine your face shape

• Round Face - Your face is as wide as it is long. This may vary a little but generally the measurement is close.
• Oblong - Longer than it is wide.
• Heart - Narrow at jaw line, wide at cheekbones/and or forehead.
• Square - your face is about as wide as it is long.
• Diamond - Widest at cheekbones, narrow forehead and jaw line of approximately equal widths.
