Now, despite not longer being a teenager and not ever having suffered acne, in my 22nd to 23rd year of life, my skin decided now was the time to get nostalgic for my teenage years. All the products listed above is apart of my journey from dry, oily and blemished skin to smooth, yet scared skin I have today. I thought I would document my journey so that it may help anyone else going through what I've just experienced.
Clearasil Rapid Action Pads are my holy grail of skin care. I've used this since I was 12 years old and it never failed me till recently. It has alcohol and other strong chemicals, so it can burn the skin but no pain no gain. It works. I thought since it had stopped working, perhaps it was too strong for my skin. I thought my skin may have been producing excess oil to compensate for the hash chemical, now that it was no longer teenage skin.
Therefor, I moved on to Kora Organics Cream Cleanser. This is much gentler and on the high end of the market. I found this not harsh enough, it really did not make a difference my skin was getting worse and worse. I was getting under the skin pimples so I thought I should start using something that is still gentle but goes deeper.
So I moved on to this foaming cleanser. It is by Botanifigue. It is all natural and foaming and my skin did feel very nice and smooth just after using the product but long term, it didn't help my acne. This, once again, retails at about $100.
After 6 month of the whole journey, I finally gave in and went to see a doctor and they prescribed Minocyline and it only started working after about 3 weeks. It was diagnosed as 'Adult onset acne', apparently that is a thing. It is a viral infection that could only be solved by antibiotics. But since then it has improved dramatically. I have no 3d bumped of blemishes on my face. However, the whole ordeal has left me with some scars, as you can see below
I've been using Perfect Potion Skin Elixir. It is a face oil that has rose hip, carrot and many other all natural ingredients. It is very effective, it is usually given to burn victims, so a little blemish scaring is nothing.
As you can see, If you are suffering acne problems, the secret is do not give up. Give everything a go and when you think you have tried everything, don't be afraid to get help from a doctor. My issue turned out to be a viral infection that could only be solved by antibiotics. There is no point suffering when help is available.
